Teardown & EPC
See how it works. Take it apart. Explore engine motion, assembly groups, lubrication and vehicle parts lookup.
3D engine teardown
Rotate a generic V8 engine, open its cutaway, separate assemblies and isolate a group. Use the assembled and separated views to explore how the engine's moving parts fit together. Choose a cylinder or assembly to focus your study, then return to the complete model. Open the interactive teardown at /learn/engine-teardown.html.
Exploded EPC diagram
Follow eight numbered assembly groups from valve carriers to the block and oil sump. Select a group in the exploded diagram to connect its position with the accompanying parts list. The callout numbers identify the study's schematic groups; they are not OEM part numbers. Open /learn/engine-teardown.html?view=diagram to begin in diagram mode.
Engine oil flow
Trace the lubrication circuit from the sump through the pickup, pump, filter and supply galleries, then follow the return to the sump. Select a stage to focus on that part of the illustration. Play, pause or change the animation speed while fixed arrows keep the flow direction visible. Explore engine oil flow at /learn/engine-lubrication.html.
Vehicle parts lookup
Move from the educational studies to vehicle-specific parts lookup at /visual-parts-epc. Select your vehicle, explore the relevant assembly and verify the part number and fitment before sourcing an actual part. The engine exhibits are generic educational models with simulated values. Their geometry, callouts and displayed quantities explain the study and do not establish compatibility with your vehicle.
