# Technology Platform

The JOY technology platform is the shared layer beneath the marketplaces and operating systems: vehicle intelligence, agent orchestration, governance controls and the evidence model that keeps claims checkable.

## One intelligence layer, several surfaces

Identity, VIN and vehicle context, diagnostics, fitment, sourcing, pricing inputs, verification and workflow records are built once and reused across retail parts, B2B parts and vehicle commerce.

That reuse is the point of the architecture: the same verified vehicle context should not have to be re-established in every product surface.

## Agents under governance

HERMES orchestrates agent work across the platform, but capability and authority are deliberately separate. An agent may be able to compose an action and still not be permitted to execute it.

Privileged operations, deployments, financial functions, integrations and production controls require the appropriate authenticated session and authorisation. Public AI access never inherits Owner or Admin authority, and no public document grants an automated client permission to write.

## Configured capability is not verified execution

JOY distinguishes what is configured from what has actually run. A control may be visible while its runtime is unavailable, and a model may answer while an external action remains unauthorised.

Production evidence carries the relevant runtime or execution identifier whenever a surface claims an action occurred. Failures stay visible rather than being reported as success.

## Boundaries

Public discovery resources are read-only and grant no operational authority. Owner and Admin routes, privileged agents, write operations, deployments, financial actions and customer records require authentication and JOY Governance authorization.
